Steel frame canopies primarily offer protection against the temperamental British weather, and with their sturdy mild steel hollow section framework supporting a roof comprised of 5mm Clear UV2 protected PETG sheeting, its practically impossible for rain to penetrate this solid roof surface.

In addition to the rain, UV2 protected PETG sheets will block any harmful UV rays from penetrating through the canopy roof and onto your skinwhere it has the opportunity to increase your risk of skin cancer. Whilst it is pretty easy to assume that the British sun is rarely dangerous, one of the key benefits of PETG sheeting over a fabric or steel roof material is that it allows a large amount of light to pass through.

With so much light on the underside of the canopy its reasonable to say that anyone using it over a completely opaque solution such as those seen with fabric and corrugated steel roofs is doing so because they would rather be in the sun! given that this same tiype of person is likely to spend an extended amount of time under the canopy, providing people with the opportunity to enjoy some of the benefits of the outdoors while keeping them safe from the harsh UV rays will be tantamount to the areas' success.

This means either yourself, or your customers, students, and staff can use the area in complete confidence that clothes, phones, worksheets & notes will all remain in top condition for the day ahead.

Play Grounds

Canopies can be of particular interest for Schools and Educational Facilities as they bridge the gap between an indoor and an outdoor teaching experience. Classroom planners are able to utilise the outdoor dry space to give their students a convenient place to take notes during an outdoor lesson, P.E. Teachers can use the Canopy as a staging area to brief students on the days’ activities, or as a place to announce the winners after a fun filled sports day.

In addition to the above, a playground canopy is a versatile structure. A canopy purchased as a temporary classroom or dining area might find itself being used as a meeting place for social activity, perhaps it will become the hang out spot for one of the cliques at the school, or the go-to location for teachers to make announcements as it affords them an area to take notes without ruining their paper. Even somewhere for teachers to stand under whilst watching the playground during break-time, imagine the difference in response time from a teacher that is already outside under the canopy, vs a teacher who’s decided the rain is too much to deal with so they elect to watch the kids from the a classroom. Whilst no child should be getting into life threatening activity at any school, its easy to explain the benefit of getting a cut or graze looked at within seconds vs within minutes. The odds are that nothing bad will happen in those first 60 seconds, but the child’s parent will surely appreciate the urgency.

But installing a Canopy at your school doesn’t have to only be for the students. Staff from all ranks can enjoy and appreciate a well-constructed sturdy canopy to park under every morning. Not only keeping the person themselves nice and dry, but also protecting 10’s of thousands of pounds worth of vehicles from hail, UV rays, and of course the ever present rain making its way into all the nooks and crannies where it will form rust over time.

Sap Prevention

If your car park is one bordered by a number of trees you’ll probably know that the 6 months between spring and autumn are where you’re most likely to have to deal with sap & honeydew falling onto your cars paintwork. This frustratingly persistent sticky material is the bane of all car enthusiasts and those of us who despise trying to work with sticky hands.

Typically this sap is produced as a result of two different mechanisms. Either the tree needs to be watered more often, as dripping sap is produced in drought-like conditions. The second reason this sap appears is due to an aphid infestation. The individual mechanics behind why the tree has acquired so many aphids is an odyssey in itself, the important thing for you is knowing that the often cited advice for clearing the infestation is to introduce an large number of ladybirds to the tree, which is a natural predator of the aphid.

Our solution? Save the water for a drink and keep the ladybirds on the garden by ordering a standard or bespoke fitted canopy as a car port. Once installed, this canopy would provide great protection against rain and UV rays whilst also providing a solid, easy to clean surface to block any tree sap from dripping onto your car.
